SUMMARY:Dunlap Chamber Music Series: The Tallis Scholars
UID:E5882A73-7759-4D20-98F2-4747331850B7
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 1973 by director Peter Phillips, The Tallis Scholars have appeared in over 2,500 concerts worldwide and made more than 60 recordings, doing more than any other ensemble to establish Renaissance sacred music as one of the great repertoires of Western classical music. Phillips has shaped the ensemble’s distinctive sound through an emphasis on tuning and blend, achieving a purity and clarity that allows every detail of the music’s interwoven lines to be heard. Their program, Hail Mary, is devoted to music written in praise of the Virgin Mary, framed by two settings of the Magnificat, Mary’s own canticle of praise. Free admission. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
