Independence Lost: Lives on the Edge of the American Revolution

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Dr. Kathleen DuVal, UNC-Chapel Hill's Carl W. Ernst Distinguished Professor of History, will launch the 2026-27 "Defining or Dividing?: Issues in Contemporary American Culture and History" series with a talk about her book, "Independence Lost: Lives on the Edge of the American Revolution." Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signature.

Damned Whiteness: How White Christian Allies Failed the Black Freedom Movement

Dr. David Evans, professor of history and intercultural studies and associate dean of the seminary at Eastern Mennonite University, continues the 2026-27 "Defining or Dividing?" series with a discussion of his recent book. Evans considers how and why progressive efforts at interracial cooperation often failed during the long Civil Rights movement and what strategies for effective collaboration and dialogue should look like. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signature

The 2026 SoCon Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF)

The 2026 SoCon Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF) will be hosted at Wofford this year on Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10. SURF brings cadets and students from the eleven colleges/universities of the Southern Conference together for a weekend of sharing and celebrating research and creative projects.
