Details:
"Rising from the Sifting Screen" is a new exhibition in the Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Center for the Arts, featuring three contemporary artists who utilize textiles as a locus of memory and resistance. The participating artists, Hellen Ascoli, Kelly Taylor Mitchell, and Lars Shimabukuro, adopt techniques as disparate as backstrap loom weaving, beaded mask-making, and papermaking as mnemonic devices for engaging layered histories, both personal and collective. On display in the Richardson Family Art Gallery Nov. 5-Dec. 13.
